PS3 Controller connected Via bluetooth but not interacting with DiddyBorg Red

Forums:

I have installed the Bluetooth dongle and connected the PS3 controller to my Pi successfully. however when i test the controller using the "jstest /dev/input/js0" command all the values appear but do not change when you move the joysticks or press the buttons?

Unfortunately we have seen this a few times now, it seems like some Bluetooth dongles work better with the latest versions of Raspbian than others.

There are three solutions to this problem:

  1. Get a different Bluetooth dongle, the 4.0 capable ones seem to work well
  2. Use a Raspberry Pi 3, the built-in Bluetooth works as intended
  3. Try using sixad instead of the new method, more difficult but should work with your current bits

If you are willing to give the sixad route a try this post should help provide some guidance:

You might need to do a clean install of Jessie first, if you end up with two things trying to control the Bluetooth it tends to break everything :(

I grabbed a Pi 3 and it all works now thanks.
