Thunderborg 5V power supply, current

Hi,

About the "5V regulator for powering the Raspberry Pi" on the Thunderborg: how much current can I draw from this? Could I use this supply to power two servos, for example, in addition to the Pi?

The 5V supply on ThunderBorg is sufficient for 1.5 A. You might be able to power a servo or two, but the likely answer is no.

Servos come in all shapes and sizes. This means that they all draw very different amounts. In our experience one or two servos will work if they are very small / low current draw.

The biggest problem though is that servos tend to add spikes to the power supply. This means that things can be working fine and then a sudden large movement on the servo can draw a bit too much power and the Pi ends up restarting :(
