green led flashing

I used the Monsterborg for years now, big fun!
Today during running a new project, all of a sudden it stopped and only the
green LED is flashing some time.
Tried reboot several times no success??!!
Any advice Thanks

Sorry, more precise:
the Monster is still running o.k., just the LEDs are dead

It's possible that one of the LEDs has failed, it does happen occasionally.

1. Do both LEDs show the same green flashing, or are they different?
One of the LEDs is between the PCBs and the chassis, it should be visible reflecting off the chassis.

2. Can you run the following on the MonsterBorg to test the LEDs:

cd ~/thunderborg
sudo killall python
./tbLedWave.py

It should smoothly sweep through all the colours on both LEDs if they are working.

Thanks Piborg for quick reply:
LED #2 is definitively dead, LED #1 flickers sometimes but seldom
(also when I run your program) ????

LED#1 flashes predominantly when RPi off ( green LED on RPi off) normal?

It's almost certain that LED #1 has failed and would need to be replaced. My guess is that it flashes when the control chip sends it an updated value. The battery monitoring logic does this even when the RPi is off.

There is a good chance that LED #2 is fine, but is not receiving the colour values. The reason is that LED #1 passes on the values for LED #2, so if it has failed it is likely not passing them on.

I just had a closer look, I guess it is hard to replace ??

Replacing the LED is possible if you are confident with soldering. The trickiest part is desoldering the mounted LED to remove it.

The LEDs are 4 pin surface mount, but each pin extends under the LED itself. The part number is WS2812B.

Thanks, I will give it a try and let you know.

THANX @Piborg for advice @Hermann at Reparaturtreff for soldering
